ALTERNATIVE STORY FORMATS

Long-form articles paired with dynamic alternative story formats, or ASFs, make your publication more engaging ­– and data backs that up. The Poynter Institute’s eye-tracking study found that ASFs help readers understand and remember specific information better than a standard narrative. With our design and editorial teams to help you brainstorm, and our digital tools to enhance your print content, you can use ASFs to best tell your story.

You might include a visual timeline of important events in your organization and industry, placing them in broader historic context. Q&As can be used to allow all the relevant players to tell their own story in their own words. Maps can show important locations to your organization, with options for interactive digital maps. Infographics, photo spreads and galleries, even video and audio links can be used to tell the story. We’ve even used specialized print techniques with our TEAMWORK publication, which used a slide-out photo page to demonstrate a retractable stadium roof as captured by drone photography.
